Trumpeter/Singer Per Jørgensen has been a fixture on the Norwegian scene for the past three decades, in groups including Jon Balke's Magentic North Orchestra and Oslo 13, and Jøkleba!, the trio with Balke and drummer Audun Kleive that made news in 2011 when it reformed for a one time only performance at Vossa Jazz, also reissuing its long out-of-print self-titled debut, along with full bonus disc of previously unreleased material....

Despite his activity, which also includes 2010's gorgeous Kuára: Psalms and Folk Songs (ECM) - with Finnish drummer Markku Ounaskari and pianist Samuli Mikkonen - Jørgensen has never led a group, and so All About Jazz is excited to present Per Jørgensen and Friends, an eclectic collaboration with longtime percussion partner Terje Isungset, harmonium player Sigbjørn Apeland (1982. Nils Økland), In the Country keyboardist Morten Qvenild and electric bassist Morten Skage.

The debut of Per Jørgensen and Friends at the 2012 Kongsberg Jazz Festival.promises to be a highlight of the Doing It Norway series.
