Solar and hypnotic, alchemical and shamanic, the quintet explores the frontiers of jazz, bringing together oriental melodies and Central African sounds. With instrumental and vocal flights of fancy and a touch of progressive rock, Aâma (meaning “global” or “common” in Arabic) creates its own playground, placing sharing and improvisation at its core.Winner of the Golden Jazz Trophy 2024 (Audience Prize and Jury Prize 2024) and regional winner of Jazz à Vienne, Aâma was born of the encounter between guitarist Bertrand Maïlar and singer Emma Prat.
