Alex Sipiagin "European Quartet" at La Mezzanine

Of Russian origin, naturalized American, Alex Sipiagin has lived in New York since 1991. He has recorded more than twenty albums for the Criss Cross label. A member of the Mingus Big Band, the Dave Holland Big Band and Sextet, the George Gruntz Concert Jazz Band, he has also toured with the greatest: Michael Brecker, Bob Moses, Elvis Costello, David Sanborn, Eric Clapton and Gonzalo Rubalcaba. This project marks the meeting between an international rhythm section based in France and this formidable musician, to prove, once again, that the language of jazz has no borders.

D'origine russe, naturalisé américain, Alex Sipiagin vit à New York depuis 1991. Il a enregistré plus d'une vingtaine d'albums pour le label Criss Cross. Membre du Mingus Big Band, du Dave Holland Big Band et Sextet, du George Gruntz Concert Jazz Band, il a aussi tourné avec les plus grands : Michael Brecker, Bob Moses, Elvis Costello, David Sanborn, Eric Clapton ou Gonzalo Rubalcaba. Ce projet marque la rencontre entre une rythmique internationale basée en France et ce musicien formidable, pour prouver, encore une fois, que le langage du jazz n'a aucune frontière.
