Hommage à Mario Stantchev at La Mezzanine

Pianist Mario Stantchev passed away a year ago. His charisma and dazzling playing left a lasting impression on us.Born in Bulgaria, he studied there and became the pianist who made his country proud.Because of his refusal to collaborate with the regime, he had to flee and landed in Nancy, France, in the early 80s. There he met Hervé Czak. They performed together (Nancy and Vienna festivals, etc.).Their friendship continued and they had the opportunity to play again behind the former "Iron Curtain" several times.All the musicians gathered tonight shared the stage with Mario. We will pay tribute to him by performing many of his beautiful compositions....

Le pianiste Mario Stantchev est décédé il y a un an. Son charisme et son jeu éblouissant nous ont marqué.Né en Bulgarie, il y fait ses études et devient le pianiste qui fait la fierté de son  pays.En raison de son refus à collaborer avec le régime, il doit s’enfuir et atterrit en France à Nancy début des années 80. Il y rencontre Hervé Czak. Ils se produisent ensemble (festivals de Nancy, de Vienne...).Leur amitié perdure et ils auront plusieurs fois l’occasion de rejouer derrière l’ex « rideau de fer ».Tous les musiciens réunis ce soir ont partagé la scène avec Mario. Nous allons lui rendre hommage en interprétant nombre de ses très belles compositions.
