Ben est considéré par des paires (Aaron Parks, Ambrose Akinmusire ou encore Will Vinson notamment) comme l'un des trois meilleurs saxophonistes alto du monde. Ensemble, Ben et Joachim ont construit un répertoire commun de compositions personnelles et de diverses reprises.
