Karim Blal is an inventive and virtuoso pianist, Italian by birth and Parisian at heart. Inspired by the greatest jazz pianists, he quickly forged his own personality, while remaining very attached to the pianists of the "great tradition", and it's easy to hear. In fact, there's something essential about his music. Already recognized by the greats, and having studied with Barry Harris and Kenny Barron, Karim has performed with Ari Hoenig, Hans Glawischnig and E.J. Strickland. He won the Best Group and Best Pianist awards at the Tuscia in Jazz festival in 2009, and has played in such prestigious venues as Blue Note Milano (Italy), Victoria Nasjonal Jazzscene (Norway), Fasching Jazz Club (Sweden), Chorus Jazz Club (Switzerland) and Minsk Philarmonic (Belarus), to name but a few. After 2 highly acclaimed albums in the jazz community, Karim Blal has reformed two renowned trios and now presents a new line-up with Joachim Govin on double bass and Simon Bernier on drums....

Karim Blal est un pianiste inventif et virtuose, italien d’origine et parisien de cœur. Inspiré par les plus grands pianistes de jazz, il s’est rapidement forgé sa propre personnalité tout en restant très attaché aux pianistes de la « grande tradition » et cela s’entend. Il y a d’ailleurs quelque chose de tout à fait essentiel dans sa musique. Déjà reconnu par les plus grands, et après avoir suivi l’enseignement de Barry Harris et Kenny Barron, Karim s’est produit aux côtés de Ari Hoenig, Hans Glawischnig, E.J. Strickland. Il a remporté les prix du Best Group et du Best Pianist au festival Tuscia in Jazz en 2009 et a joué dans des lieux très prestigieux comme le Blue Note Milano (Italie), le Victoria Nasjonal Jazzscene (Norvège), le Fasching Jazz Club (Suède), le Chorus Jazz Club (Suisse) ou encore le Minsk Philarmonic (Biélorussie), pour n’en nommer qu’une poignée. Après 2 albums très remarqués dans la communauté Jazz, Karim Blal reforme deux trios de renom et nous présente aujourd’hui une formation avec Joachim Govin à la contrebasse et Simon Bernier à la batterie.
