This is where Tambours Ancestraux – Jazz du MaranhĂŁo et du BrĂ©sil begins, an explosive jam led by IsaĂas Alves.A native of SĂŁo LuĂs, in north-eastern Brazil, IsaĂas is a percussionist and composer nourished by the popular traditions of MaranhĂŁo. He grew up to the rhythm of street drums, processions and festivals, before taking his sounds to Europe.
