La Rumeur at JASS CLUB

It is an honor for the JASS CLUB to welcome La Rumeur, a legendary French hip-hop group since the 1990s. Formed when Ekoué and Hamé met in 1994, and later joined by Le Bavar, the collective quickly established itself as a strong and independent voice, driven by a direct connection to reality and the history of working-class neighborhoods. Their concept of “rap by the sons of immigrants” has become a benchmark in the music scene.Over the years, La Rumeur has built a solid career: a trilogy of EPs that have become classics, the album L'Ombre sur la Mesure, ranked among the essentials of rap, and a series of records and projects carried out in total autonomy. Their work also extends to cinema and documentaries, where we find the same rigor in writing and the same attention to the world around them.By inviting them, the club highlights the natural links between jazz and rap: the importance given to rhythm, storytelling, and free speech. C’est un honneur pour le JASS CLUB d’accueillir La Rumeur, groupe mythique du hip-hop français depuis les années 90. Né de la rencontre entre Ekoué et Hamé en 1994, puis rejoint par Le Bavar, le collectif s’est rapidement affirmé comme une voix forte et indépendante, portée par un rapport direct au réel et à l’histoire des quartiers populaires. Leur concept de « rap de fils d’immigrés » est devenu un repère dans le paysage musical.Au fil des années, La Rumeur a bâti un parcours solide : une trilogie de maxis devenue référence, l’album L’Ombre sur la Mesure classé parmi les essentiels du rap, puis une série de disques et de projets menés en totale autonomie.
