Un hommage aux trois géants du jazz Lennie Tristano, Warne Marsh et Lee Konitz : voilà la motivation première qui a poussé le quintet Lennie’s à se rassembler, autour de l’incroyable modernité et du swing indélébile de ces trois grands musiciens.Mais comment rendre hommage à l’heure actuelle sans tomber dans la pâle copie et tout en restant fidèle à l’esprit de cette musique ?La tentative proposée par Lennie’s est de se réapproprier ce répertoire en y intégrant des phases d’improvisations, des plus acrobatiques aux plus ouvertes, des compositions personnelles et des temps libres dont personne ne peut prédire la note ni le rythme qui prendra place.Rendre au jazz cette place, en tant que musique vivante en constante mouvance et à la fois tellement riche de par son histoire, c’est perpétuer une tradition sans trahir la personnalité ni la sincérité dechaque musicien à l’oeuvre dans chaque moment de jeu.
