Chez Georges is a very pleasant wine bar on Rue des Canettes, with a magnificent vaulted cellar in the basement, transformed on Tuesdays into a concert hall...It is said that klezmer music and Yiddish song made their Parisian debut in cellars and cabarets. Many years later, the very festival that helped put them on the forefront of the most prestigious venues invites them to return to these places. Something is formed in these underground spaces: a bond so strong that we no longer know who is listening and who is playing, who is telling the story and who is feeling it. Everything intertwines and transforms into a timeless moment (even if at the time, it smelled strongly of stale cigarettes and damp).The Marx Sisters also started in cellars, and for this very special edition of Jazz'n Klezmer, they push back the walls and bring in all their instruments, all their stories, and all their voices. Chez Georges, c'est un bar à vin très sympathique de la rue des canettes, avec au sous-sol une magnifique cave voûtée, transformée le mardi en cave à concerts... On raconte que la musique klezmer et la chanson yiddish ont fait leurs débuts parisiens dans les caves et les cabarets. Bien des années plus tard, le festival même qui a contribué à les hisser sur le devant des plus belles scènes les invite à revenir en ces lieux. Car quelque chose se noue dans ces souterrains : un lien si fort qu'on ne sait plus qui écoute et qui joue, qui raconte et qui ressent. Tout s'entremêle et se transforme en un moment hors du temps (même si à l'époque, ça sentait fort la cigarette froide et l'humidité). Les Marx Sisters aussi ont débuté dans les caves, et pour cette édition très particulière de Jazz'n Klezmer, elles poussent les murs et y font entrer tous leurs instruments, toutes leurs histoires et toutes leurs voix.
