Madeleine & Salomon is the meeting of two artists with distinct musical worlds: pianist Alexandre Saada and vocalist and flutist Clotilde Rullaud. They develop a sacred, minimalist universe imbued with impressionist poetry. In English and sometimes in French, they echo the existential questions, hopes, and protests of a youth thirsty for change. Their songs are socially conscious, dreamy, or romantic, all conveying social or spiritual questions that still resonate around the world today. The duo will perform songs from their two albums, “A Woman's Journey” and “Eastern Spring,” including covers of Eastern and activist pop songs from the 1960s and 1970s, and intonations that echo the great female figures of American song.“A Woman's Journey” (2016), acclaimed by international critics (best album according to The Sunday Times (UK), The NPR Music Jazz Critics Poll (US), France Musique, Citizen Jazz, Jazz News), pays tribute to socially conscious American singers such as Nina Simone and Billie Holiday. Eastern Spring (2022), equally acclaimed by Jazzwise (UK), Jazziz (US), Télérama, France Musique, Le Soir (BE), RTBF, MusicaJazz (IT), Nettavissen (NO), and Citizen Jazz, incorporates Mediterranean and Middle Eastern influences.Madeleine sings, Salomon plays the piano. “Eastern Spring” (2022), tout autant salué - Jazzwise (UK), Jazziz (US), Télérama, France Musique, Le Soir (BE), RTBF, MusicaJazz (IT), Nettavissen (NO), Citizen Jazz - intègre des influences méditerranéennes et moyen-orientales.
