Issu d’une famille de musiciens, Mario Ponce-Enrile débute le chant au sein de la chorale de l’Ateneo de Manila, aux Philippines, avant de poursuivre sa formation en Italie, puis à Paris. Il a collaboré avec de nombreuses figures du jazz européen et développe une approche vocale fondée sur l’écoute, la souplesse du phrasé et la recherche d’un timbre personnel, nourrie par sa rencontre avec Barry Harris.Pour ce concert, Mario Ponce-Enrile propose essentiellement des morceaux issus de son premier album, « From This Moment On », enregistré au légendaire Van Gelder Studio du New Jersey.Entre standards rares et ballades intemporelles, il rend un hommage à la grande tradition du jazz vocal tout en affirmant une voix singulière, claire et nuancée.
