About

| Jazz, creation“After nearly ten years with my quartet (Carl-Henri Morisset, Thomas Bramerie, and Elie Martin Charrière), I want to give my musical universe a new lease on life. I want to introduce electro elements, particularly with Gala and Titouan, to create a unique and daring fusion. I see this project as a real sound laboratory, a space for experimentation where I can explore new musical textures while preserving the essence of jazz. I can't wait to collaborate with artists who are curious and open to this adventure!"Pierrick PĂ©dron discovered jazz at the age of 16 and took his first professional steps alongside Magic Malik, then moved to New York, where he recorded his first album, Cherokee (2001). Selected by Selmer to design the Alto RĂ©fĂ©rence saxophone, he then founded his own quartet and collaborated with the Belmondo brothers. His albums “Classical Faces” and “Deep in a Dream” established his name among the great voices of the French alto saxophone. Curious and adventurous, he then embarked on a series of daring projects: a tribute to Thelonious Monk with Kubic's Monk, a reinterpretation of The Cure with Kubic's Cure, and an inventive jazz fusion with And The.In 2017, he formed an acoustic quartet with Carl-Henri Morisset, Thomas Bramerie, and Greg Hutchinson, before performing at the Philharmonie de Paris in 2019 and forging strong ties with the Japanese scene. In 2021, he celebrated his 50th anniversary with the double album Fifty/Fifty, recorded between Paris and New York. That same year, he was named Artist of the Year at the Victoires du Jazz 2021 awards. His next album, “PĂ©dron/Rubalcaba,” released in 2023, marks a summit meeting with Cuban pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba. In this art of duets and mirroring, Pierrick and Gonzalo challenge each other, provoke each other, size each other up, enjoy surprising each other, and seek to surpass themselves with obvious mastery, revisiting the great standards of the 20th century. A true high-flying dialogue, the album has been unanimously praised by critics: CHOC! Jazz Magazine, TTTT TĂ©lĂ©rama, MUST TSF Jazz, Indispensable Jazz News, Élu! Citizen Jazz and Album of the Year at the Victoires du Jazz 2023.Today, Pierrick PĂ©dron continues his exploration of sound, ready for new musical adventures, and it is 38Riv that he has chosen as his testing ground, much to our delight!Photo credit © Jean Baptiste Millot ...
