Plus qu’un simple recentrage autour de la guitare dicté par la formule en trio, Simon Martineau se saisit de celle-ci d’une manière très personnelle. À l’aise dans cette instrumentation qui lui permet de porter la musique là où bon lui semble, il apprécie la grande liberté qu’elle laisse aux musiciens, chacun participant de manière égale à l’élaboration de l’ensemble. Et de fait, c’est bien le jeu collectif et le son de groupe qui prédominent, dès la première écoute, par-delà la seule expression des virtuosités individuelles. Pour mener ce projet, Simon Martineau s’est entouré de deux musiciens qu’il connaît bien : le batteur Thomas Delor et le contrebassiste Gabriel Midon, avec lesquels il a déjà collaboré sur 5 albums.
