Drummer and composer IsaĂas Alves hails from SĂŁo LuĂs do MaranhĂŁo - the birthplace of such great Brazilian artists as pianist Tânia Maria, Alcione, Zeca Baleiro and Anna Torres, among others - and proposes to celebrate “New Brazilian Jazz” with a unique and innovative approach. This project is a creative fusion between contemporary jazz and the rich rhythmic and melodic elements of northeastern Brazil, with a particular focus on the musically-charged culture of the state of MaranhĂŁo.
