Lontano at Bal Blomet

The musical affinities between Anja Lechner and François Couturier are obvious to all those who have had the chance to attend their concerts and hear their previous recordings as a duo, as well as with the Tarkovsky Quartet (concert at Bal Blomet in December 2017)) for ECM Records.Their CD "Moderato Cantabile", which received an excellent reception, contained music oscillating between East and West. With their new program "Lontano" recorded in October 2020 for Ecm, the German cellist and the French pianist now cover a wide musical spectrum: melodies by Federico Mompou Giya Kancheli or Anouar Brahem, pieces offering a large space for improvisation and to personal arrangements, and new pieces composed by François Couturier....

Les affinités musicales entre Anja Lechner et François Couturier sont une évidence pour tous ceux qui ont eu la chance d’assister à leurs concerts et d’entendre leurs précédents enregistrements en duo, ainsi qu’avec le Tarkovsky Quartet (concert au Bal Blomet en Décembre 2017 )) pour ECM Records.Leur Cd « Moderato Cantabile », qui a reçu un excellent accueil, contenait une musique oscillant entre l’Orient et l’Occident.Avec leur nouveau programme « Lontano » enregistré en Octobre 2020 pour Ecm, la violoncelliste allemande et le pianiste français couvrent maintenant un large spectre musical : des mélodies de Federico Mompou Giya Kancheli ou Anouar Brahem, des pièces offrant un large espace  à l’improvisation et aux arrangements personnels, et de nouveaux morceaux composés par  François Couturier.
