The musical collaboration of Anja Lechner and François Couturier is long established, through their acclaimed concerts and recordings for ECM, both as a duo and with the Tarkovsky Quartet. Their highly acclaimed and successful duo project “Moderato Cantabile” featured music oscillating between East and West. Today, with their new program 'Lontano', the German cellist and French pianist travel a wide musical arc – embracing familiar melodies by Henri Dutilleux, Giya Kancheli, Anouar Brahem and others, and pieces that leave room for improvisation and personal interpretation. La collaboration musicale d’Anja Lechner et de François Couturier est établie de longue date, à travers leurs concerts et leurs enregistrements acclamés pour ECM, tant en duo qu’avec le Tarkovsky Quartet .Leur projet en duo « Moderato Cantabile » , très apprécié et couronné de succès, présentait une musique oscillant entre Orient et Occident. Aujourd’hui, avec leur nouveau programme ‘Lontano », la violoncelliste allemande et le pianiste français parcourent un large arc musical – embrassant des mélodies familières d’Henri Dutilleux, Giya Kancheli, Anouar Brahem et d’autres, et des pièces qui laissent place à l’improvisation et à l’interprétation personnelle.
