Paul Lay pianoMatyas Szandaï contrebasseDonald Kontomanou batterieNouveau programme de Paul Lay en trio, “Bach’s Groove” – clin d’œil à Bag’s Groove, célèbre album de Miles Davis – est un hommage à Bach dont l’écriture très rythmique a inspiré, on le sait, beaucoup de musiciens de jazz. Revisitant quelques pages familières du maître – les Préludes et fugues et deux chorals lumineux dont Jésus, que ma joie demeure -, donnant à entendre aussi l’étonnante Bach Suite d’Oscar Peterson, rarement jouée au concert, il compose une partition inédite, jouant sur les contrastes en fonction des atmosphères et donnant la part belle au swing et au groove qu’il manie si bien. Le concert du 15 octobre 2021 au Festival de Piano en Valois à la Scène Nationale d’Angoulême a été filmé. A partir de décembre 2021, la captation de ce concert sera retransmise sur France TV et sur la chaîne Qwest TV créée par Quincy Jones.
