Phil Woods at The Penn State Jazz Festival at Esber Recital Hall

The Penn State School of Music will be having our annual Penn State Jazz Festival on March 22nd and 23rd. High School students will be adjudicated (non-competitive) by the guest clinicians and also have the opportunity to speak with these fantastic musicians all day on Saturday!

This year will feature our main guest clinician and legendary saxophonist, PHIL WOODS! We will also feature clinicians Marko Marcinko, Steve Rudolph, and Josh Davis.

Friday, March 22nd will feature an open rehearsal masterclass at 3:30pm with Penn State’s top jazz ensemble and clinicians, under the direction of Dan Yoder. Later that night at 8PM will be a concert masterclass with an All-Star Combo featuring Marko Marcinko, Steve Rudolph, and Josh Davis. [Phil Woods will be at the festival all day Saturday.]...

Saturday, March 23rd will consist of non-competitive band adjudications with all of the clinicians giving personal feedback to each ensemble. At 3:00PM, there will be an open masterclass with Phil Woods and the other guest clinicians. After dinner, there will be a celebratory concert at 8PM with Penn State’s top jazz ensemble, Centre Dimensions featuring PHIL WOODS, Marko Marcinko, Steve Rudolph, and Josh Davis.

I am very excited to share this opportunity to learn from the legendary musicians such as PHIL WOODS at this year’s jazz festival. I hope to see ya'll there!
