She gave her first recital of original compositions and Bach preludes in Tucson at the age of six. Since then, she has amassed a string of awards, fellowships, residencies and commissions proclaiming her importance as a pianist, composer and arranger. She is a Fulbright scholar and a 2018 finalist in the Ellis Marsalis Jazz Piano Competition. Mimi Jones is a world-renowned bassist, vocalist, producer, label owner and filmmaker. She has worked with the greats of jazz, including Kenny Barron, Lizz Wright, Beyonce, Frank Ocean, Dianne Reeves, Tia Fuller, Ingrid Jensen, Roy Hargrove, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Nona Hendricks, Kevin Mahogany, Corey Glover, Raymond Angry, Marc Cary, Toshi Reagon, Rachel Z, Tammy McCann, Sean Jones, Cyrille Aimee, Allan Harris, Rudy Royston, Ravi Coltrane, Ralph Peterson, and Terri Lyne Carrington.
She has 3 albums as leader on her own Hot Tone Music label. Ms. Jones is co-leader with ArcoIris Sandoval of the D.O.M.E. Experience—a 20-piece jazz orchestra that combines dance and multimedia to advocate for environmental and social issues.
Allan Mednard studied with Carl Allen at City College of New York. He has performed with Jeremy Pelt, Ben Allison, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Aaron Parks, Alix Ambroise, Le Boeuf Brothers, Ben Street, Godwin Louis, Andrew D’Angelo, Jaleel Shaw, Melissa Aldana, and many more.
The trio offers us an evening of arrangements and originals from First Voyage and her growing catalog of inventive compositions.
