Bob Devos Trio at Lord Of Life Lutheran Church

Jazz guitarist extraordinaire BOB DeVOS leads a trio in our series on FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 11. The noted jazz artists completing his ensemble are organist DAVID LEONHARDT and drummer STEVE JOHNS.

As both a leader and first-call sideman, DeVos's playing has delighted jazz audiences for more than three decades at clubs, colleges and festivals across the U.S. and abroad. His career's performance work with a long list of jazz icons led to his inclusion in jazz author/critic Scott Yanow's 2013 book, "The Great Guitarists, The Ultimate Guide."

DeVos's swinging style of bebop and blues drenched playing is deeply rooted in his years working with organ legends Charles Earland, Jack McDuff, Dr. Lonnie Smith and Gene Ludwig, along with the "Groove" Holmes-Sonny Stitt and Jimmy McGriff-Hank Crawford ensembles. DeVos continues to record and perform, adding to his resume in both areas. Recent credits include a brand new CD in 2016, "Six Sting Solos," and performances with organist Mike LeDonne, Akiko Tsuruuga and sax giant Eric Alexander. A thinking man's guitarist, DeVos continues to teach guitar privately and is also an educator who's taught in jazz programs at both Lehigh and William Paterson universities.
