Jazz Bridge presents their “First Thursdays Neighborhood Concerts Series-Jazz in the Wood” at the Collingswood Community Center, 30 Collings Ave, Collingswood, NJ 08108. This season begins with baritone saxophonist/flautist Denis DiBlasio and his quartet on Thursday, October 1. Denis DiBlasio is a baritone saxophonist, scat singer, flautist, educator, composer, arranger, Executive Director of The Maynard Ferguson Institute of Jazz and head of Jazz and Composition programs at Rowan University. DiBlasio is also an international clinician/performer. Relevance, attainability and fun make up the foundation of his friendly and entertaining approach. In the area of recordings and published texts, his affiliations include Kendor, Northeastern Music, Belwin, Hal Leonard, Doug Beach, Kjos, Houston, RonCorp, RAD Records, and Dreambox Media. This versatile and entertaining performer was the Maynard Ferguson Big Band’s Musical Director for five years, has recorded with the likes of clarinet legend Buddy DeFranco, and has arranged for singer Dianne Schurr. ...
