Hailing from Texas, Caleb Veazey’s musical inspiration can’t be limited to one musical genre. Growing up in a city that gave the world Stevie Ray Vaughn and Blind Lemmon Jefferson it is only natural that Caleb spent most of his early musical years fascinated with American roots music. When he was 15 Caleb was accepted into the music program at the prestigious Booker T. Washington High School for the Visual and Performing Arts, which produced Erykah Badu, Edie Brikell, and Roy Hargrove. It was at this point that Veazey developed a passion for the American musical language of Jazz. Roger Boykin, one of Dallas’s premiere Jazz musicians and longtime teacher at BTWHSVPA, became Caleb’s mentor.
