Carly Bates-vocals/piano with Gina Jurek-vocals, Erika Sharpe-bass, Caleb Davis-drums. This ensemble will perform a program of Carly's original music, arrangements of popular music (including James Blake, Prince, and Lauryn Hill), and reimaginings of jazz standards. Carly Bates is pianist, educator, and artistic collaborator in Phoenix, AZ, who creates with all kinds of storytellers: musicians, movers, poets, and theatre artists. She currently plays in a local band called Hyperbella and in a local theatre company called Playback Arizona. She teaches private piano lessons and instructs piano classes with ASU’s Popular Music Program.
