Hailing from Texas, Caleb Veazey’s musical inspiration can’t be limited to one musical genre. Growing up in a city that gave the world Stevie Ray Vaughn and Blind Lemmon Jefferson it is only natural that Caleb spent most of his early musical years fascinated with American roots music. When he was 15 Caleb was accepted into the music program at the prestigious Booker T. Washington High School for the Visual and Performing Arts, which produced Erykah Badu, Edie Brikell, and Roy Hargrove. It was at this point that Veazey developed a passion for the American musical language of Jazz. Roger Boykin, one of Dallas’s premiere Jazz musicians and longtime teacher at BTWHSVPA, became Caleb’s mentor. When he was 15 Caleb was accepted into the music program at the prestigious Booker T. After graduating from high school, Veazey attended Arizona State University’s School of Music studying under Jeff Libman and Michael Kocour. There, he discovered a new level of exploration into the Jazz tradition. He honed his composition, arranging and performance skills while at ASU, composing music for the Concert Jazz Band, string quartets, and small jazz ensembles, culminating in a Senior recital that his professors called, “inspiring”.

Veazey graduated Cum Laude from Arizona State University. Caleb Veazey will be attending California Institute for the Arts to pursue his masters degree where he will study with legendary guitarist Larry Koonse. Caleb’s favorite musicians are Wayne Shorter, Billy Strayhorn, John Coltrane and Freddie King.

The concert will feature Caleb's original compositions and his arrangements that will reflect on his musical experiences over the past 4 years.
