Michael Kocour is an Associate Professor and the Director of Jazz Studies at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. Among the many artists and ensembles with whom he has appeared with are Dizzy Gillespie, Eddie Harris, James Moody, Eddie Daniels, Randy Brecker, Benny Golson, Ira Sullivan, Carl Fontana, Dewey Redman, Lew Tebackin, and the Chicago Symphony.

Catch a Rising Star Series: This summer concert series features performances by young artists based in Arizona. Curated by the Nash, the series provides a platform for these emerging artists to gain prominence in the jazz community. The 2013 series features headliners of from the ages of 12-26. This year, the Catch a Rising Stars is very much an educational program as well as a performance series. All Catch a Rising Stars groups will be offered a free clinic by an experienced local jazz educator in advance of their performance at the Nash.
