Seventy successful years into his career, Lee Konitz only shows signs of brighter, more innovative music to come. Known for his prominent position and influence during the cool jazz movement, Konitz has consistently developed his sound to evolve into something modern and inspired. His greatness as a composer and alto saxophonist has resulted in dozens of performances and albums since 1945. More recently, Konitz’s albums reflect exploratory jazz that has proven appealing to younger jazz aficionados.
The term tremendously gifted has been used to describe classically trained pianist Dan Tepfer. Born in Paris, France, Tepfer began his musical training as a child and grew to become a culturally prolific musician known for his jazz improvisation.
New York City native Jeremy Stratton is bassist in the quartet and brings a deep melodic sound that adds fullness to this jazz group. Stratton has performed with multiple jazz groups and is the founder of The Grassroots Jazz Effort located in New York City.
Jazz drummer George Schuller has released several albums over the past two decades and acted as producer for many artists. In 1984 Schuller co-founded the twelve-piece ensemble Orange Then Blue which went on to record several critically acclaimed albums. His success continues as a member of the Lee Konitz Quartet.

Scottsdale Community College Jazz Orchestra
The Scottsdale Community College Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of Eric Rasmussen, presents a unique mix of cutting-edge big band music as well as jazz big-band favorites. The members of the orchestra feature both promising young valley musicians and several of the area’s most seasoned jazz veterans. The band regularly performs with world renowned guest artists that have included Donny McCaslin, Chris Cheek, Karrin Allyson, Alan Ferber, Ralph Alessi, and JC Sanford.
