Paul-Eirik Melhus is currently studying at Berklee College of Music. In his earlier days, he played with the Marshall Ranch Elementary Jazz Band, which was chosen to perform at the 2005 IAJE Festival in Long Beach, California. This was the first elementary jazz ensemble in Arizona to receive this honor. Nationally, Paul was invited to play with the Jazz Band of America, which had Wynton Marsalis as guest artist, under the direction of Ron McCurdy.
Later, he was chosen to attend the Brubeck Summer Jazz Colony in 2007 and 2008 with such faculty as Joe Gilman, Frank Morgan, Ray Drummond, Willie Jones III, Anton Shwartz, Bart Marantz, Ed Soph, and Marvin Stamm....

In 2009, Paul played lead tenor in the Monterey Next Generation Jazz Orchestra and toured with the band. The band ended the tour playing at the 2009 Monterey Jazz Festival with special guest artist Wynton Marsalis. Currently, at Berklee College of Music, Paul has played and studied with many Berklee ensembles and teachers, including Greg Osby, Terri Lyne Carrington, David Santoro, Ralph Peterson, Hal Crook, David Samuels, Ricardo Monzon Merengue, Matt Jenson, and the Bob Marley and David Gilmore ensembles.
He has also had the privilege of studying with renowned faculty in the institute, such as Danilo Perez, Joe Lovano, John Patitucci, Ben Street, George Garzone, Adam Cruz, Terri Lyne Carrington, and Dave Liebman.
