His infectious joy and unwavering commitment to swing led him to perform all over the world alongside many of the greatest jazz musicians in history, including Ella Fitzgerald, Oscar Peterson, Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday, Count Basie, and Ray Charles. His career as a composer, educator, and performer spanned an incredible seven decades, and even after his passing in 2015, his influence continues to shape new generations of jazz musicians and trumpet players. Arsen Nalbandian is a jazz pianist, composer, and arranger based in the Phoenix metropolitan area. His latest release, entitled In Depth, is a piano trio album dedicated to the arranging styles of Oscar Peterson and Bill Evans. Utilizing selections from classic Great American Songbook standards, each tune explores elaborate and more involved arranging techniques that one could closely associate to the writings of big band music.
