7:30pm – 10:00pm; Frank Smith-tenor sax, Denny Monce-trumpet, Mark DeCozio-piano, Ted Sistrunk-bass, Bob McKeon-drums; Tickets $20, $10 Students (25 & Under w/ ID). This performance will cover a wide sample of the West Coast Cool era. It will feature the music of Dave Pell, whose legendary 1950’s-era California-based octet employed a who’s-who of West Coast jazz greats, including Shorty Rogers, Marty Paich, Bill Holman & John Williams to name just a few. The octet will also feature music from the Miles Davis Birth of the Cool album, a piece from the Gerry Mulligan/Chet Baker quartet, a Bossa from Stan Getz and finally an elegant Dave Brubeck composition.
