‘Papa’ John DeFrancesco began playing the Hammond B3 Organ in the Buffalo, New York area in 1959 after seeing Jimmy Smith live. In the late ’70′s, he put aside his successful performing career – playing with the likes of Jack McDuff, Jimmy Smith, Jimmy McGriff, George Benson, and Houston Person — to concentrate on raising his son, Joey DeFrancesco.
