Shearing And Beyond in Berkshire hill-town of Sandisfield.
Pianist/composer/educator James Argiro leads his quintet in a salute to George Shearing's silken signature sound Saturday, June 4 at 8 p.m. in the Sandisfield Arts Center. Set in a bucolic hill-town about 45 minutes from Pittsfield and West Hartford, the art center will become an intimate jazz club as the Argiro Quintet performs a tribute to Shearing’s musical sound along with new arrangements in the Shearing style, jazz pieces and original compositions.
Argiro and jazz vocalist Andrea Niki will sing a few songs as part of a varied repertoire, which includes fresh renditions of Shearing-styled material, ranging from classic ballads to jazz standards, from Monk musings to sensuous sambas
