THE SCHEDULE:
1. Diagraming Tunes To Help With Solos / January, 16th, 10am PST
Using the melody, chord scale relationships and passing notes to help develop melodious solos that transcend the theoretical sound of the usual.
2. How To Start a Group / January, 17th, 2pm PST
How to find the right musicians to start one’s own jazz group and how to keep the group from disbanding. Organizing the repertoire and finding gigs.
3. Composing Tunes Using Time No Changes Technique / January, 24th, 2pm PST
A method of composing that will introduce a way of being able to create new and original music. Being able to find the chords for the newly composed melody.
4. Exploring The Use Of Musical Ideas / January, 30th, 10am PST
Finding new ideas on one’s instrument and how to use them hen improvising through tunes.
5. How To Make a Recording and Then To Find a Recording Company To Release the Project / January, 31st, 2pm PST
Composing original music, reharmonizing standard tunes, finding the right musicians, studio, engineer and lastly exploring the various recording companies and how to make the decision which is best for the style of music.
6. Bringing Out One’s Personality in The Music / February, 6th, 10am PST
How to develop one’s own sound through listening, recording, accepting one’s own playing without comparisons. Understanding that each individual is unique already.
7. The Importance and Advantages of Duet Playing / February, 7th, 2pm PST
Exploring the transparency of duet playing and the listening factor. Finding the right musicians to play duets with and the instruments that make for good duet playing. Also exploring the history of jazz duos.
8. Purpose and Commitment / February, 13th, 10am PST
Why are you playing music? What are your musical needs? What goals have you set for yourself in playing music? Exploring the advantages of knowing and understanding the aforementioned.
9. Eliminating Fears Before and During a Performance / February, 20th, 10am PST
There is a way to eliminating fears while performing. We will explore the healing by listening to the actual notes being played and how to prepare yourself prior to a performance.
10. How To Practice / February, 21nd, 2pm PST
Discovering a method to practicing that allows for optimum concentration and restful intervals. What to do and what not to do while practicing.
11. What To Practice / February, 28th, 2pm PST
There are things essential to practice…other things can be unnecessary. Being able to design a practice routine that will strengthen your intonation and time feel.
