The Red Hot Stompers are a variation of a larger orchestra arranged by Richard Basi. Louis Armstrong's 1965 visit to the Rose City directly resulted in the formation of this group who find inspiration from the likes of Duke Ellington, Fats Waller, Jelly Roll Morton, WC Handy, Spencer Williams, the Oklahoma City Blue Devils, Fletcher Henderson, and so many more. Hot times, prohibition, speakeasies, wax & early vinyl recordings were the order of the day. We play the jazz created during its most important period : the 1920s to the 1940s.

Dance: The room has a magical feel with a perfect floor for swing dancers - smooth wood, shimmering with the vibrancy of the roaring 20s! This is an unprecedented showcase for live swing in Portland, an evening of jazz age music with a group committed to authenticity, integrity and respect for the original music and its place in history.
