After his successful New York cabaret debut this spring at the
Metropolitan Room & the off-Broadway venue Don't Tell Mama,
British jazz pianist, cabaret singer, and award-winning composer
Michael Omer is bringing his cabaret show to Portland.

Michael offers a show which promises to be edgy, funny, serious,
and wonderfully entertaining. His set will include original songs,
new jazz gems, a sprinkling of standards, and selections from his
improvised album “Unwritten, Unplugged and Unsigned”.

He also greatly admires American composers, including local
Portland resident Dave Frishberg - and Stephen
Sondheim, and these are both well represented in the show:
Dave's song "Blizzard of Lies" was very popular in NYC!

Michael concludes every show with an instant “micro-musical”
that he improvises based on audience suggestions. Writes Joe
Regan Jr, in New York’s Times Square Chronicle: “His improvisations
are very funny, with amazing plot twists and character quirks.
Additionally, when Omer sits down at the piano, his playing is
almost symphonic.”

Michael’s musical career includes scoring Oscar-nominated drama
for the film It’s Good To Talk, along with producing for the charts
and composing for the concert hall. Michael has scored the BBC TV
dramas The Prince and The Pauper and Little Lord Fauntleroy, both
with scripts by Julian Fellowes (of Downtown Abbey, Titanic and
Gosford Park fame).
