Purity Ring’s self-titled fourth album marks a bold new chapter for the duo, serving as a concept album inspired by RPGs like Nier Automata and Final Fantasy X. It follows two characters—reflections of members Megan James and Corin Roddick—on a quest to rebuild a kinder world from ruins. The music blends nostalgic digital synths, classical guitar, pan flutes, breakbeats, and vocoders, while James expands her vocal style with expressive, stream-of-consciousness lyrics. Fully self-released, the album represents the realization of a long-evolving artistic vision that is expansive, unrestrained, and deeply personal.
