The tour will feature Ciribelli along with regular Brasil Band personnel, which includes Brazilian pianist and Oregon resident Cassio Vianna. Marvio Ciribelli studied classical piano, popular piano, and composition at Fluminense Conservatory in Niteroi, Brazil. He appears regularly at clubs and jazz festivals in Brazil, and has three times brought his band to the Montreaux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. He has released more than a dozen CDs as a leader — including one recorded live at Montreaux — and many more as a sideman. He will be releasing a new recording that includes Tom Bergeron on saxophone in October.
Cassio Vianna holds a bachelor’s degree in music from the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro, and a master’s degree in contemporary music from Western Oregon University. Before moving to Oregon in 2009, he performed regularly as a sideman in Rio de Janeiro; and his trio was the house band at Patio Havana, in the fashionable tourist town of Buzios.
