Young Jazz Composers Alumni Concert + Jazz Jam at Artichoke Music

A sextet of Portland Jazz Composers Ensemble musicians performs new original works by graduates of PJCE’s Young Jazz Composers program in an intimate concert. This event is a showcase for some of the most ambitious graduates of PJCE’s program including Oliver Kher, Spy Mohr, Matt Olason, Adriana Wagner, Quinn Walker, and Jon deVries who have expanded on their mentorship experiences by continuing to compose on their own.

Immediately following the concert will be a jazz jam session for original music. Composers are invited to bring their music to be played by the PJCE’s sextet: Cyrus Nabipoor, trumpet; Adriana Wagner, trombone; Machado Mijiga, drums; Melissa Carroll, alto saxophone; Joe Bagg, piano; and Ross Garlow, bass.
