ABOUT RAY DEMARCOFor more than five decades, pianist DeMarco has been making his mark on the Seacoast music scene, whether suited up behind baby grand at a piano bar or dressed down with a keyboard on his lap at a late night jam session.DeMarco started playing piano when he was 9 years old. After picking up guitar and banjo and playing coffeehouses during the folk era, he returned to piano and started to play professionally. He took jazz lessons from various players of note such as legendary local Tom Gallant, who at the time was teaching jazz piano at the Berklee School of Music. DeMarco has been playing in the Seacoast area for over 50 years: solo, in duos, trios, his own group up to septet, big bands and in many other combos.
