The pianist and composer Emil Viklicky is one of the most outstanding figures of the Czech jazz scene. With his synthetic attitude he has exceeded the boundaries of jazz a long time ago. Beside the recordings with world-class jazzmen, among which we find the Basie style jazz veteran Joe Newman, the pianist James Williams and one of the best current guitarists Bill Frisell, we can find the effort of blending folk with jazz. He is also interested in contemporary music. With his trio plays a particularly authorial compositions and arrangements of modern jazz standards.
