GERA BAND was formed in 1981 as a quartet.
Instrumentation (tp, sax, b, ds) did not use any harmonic instrument, which significantly contributes to its characteristic sound.
The concept of creation is based on modern mainstream concept in conjunction with elements of free jazz, blues, rock and Latin-American rhythms. The repertoire is mostly original songs Michael Gera, but also some standard composition of other authors. In addition units composed, you can also enjoy improvisational skills of individual players. In 1988 there was a change. The saxophone was replaced by an electric guitar. Trumpeter Michal Gera (de facto, already a legend of Czech jazz), he was unassuming passers musician who occasionally came up with the taste to play with the band. He went, he played his solo and then disappeared. The tube could not be overheard.
