Petr Benes, was born December 2, 1977 in Svitavy. Started piano lessons at the age of 5 at the music school in Svitavy. Won the national piano contest in Pardubice in 1991 and was accepted to the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory in 1993. Studied piano and composition under professors Jan Vrána, Jirka Růžička and Karel Růžička. Has taught jazz improvisation at the Conservatory of Jaroslava Ježka since 1999. Played nine years with the Reduta Big Band and worked with the Czech Radio Big Band. Engagement for many years with Petr Kořínek Quartet and Jazz Efterrätt. His current projects include work with the Libor Šmoldas Quartet, with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra and the St. Blažej Big Band conducted by Kryštof Marek....
