Jan Prax Quartett /DE/ at Reduta Jazz Club

Only four months after it was founded, JP4, the quartet surrounding exceptional 22-year-old saxophone player Jan Prax, had the honor being awarded the 1st prize of the Future Sounds Competition 2012 powered by the Leverkusener Jazztage and wowed not only the jury but also the audience with their glowing presence on stage.

Propelled by this incredible achievement at the very beginning of their musical path, the four young men from South of Germany immediately continued to pursue their mission: Uniting traditional and modern elements of Jazz through enthusiasm and passion. By bringing their self-written pieces on stage they quickly attracted increasing attention and took away the 1st prize at the Sparda Jazz Award 2014 and at the international Czech Jazz Contest 2014 in Prague as well as the 2nd prize at the Hansjürg Hensler Jazz Competition 2014....

What makes the sound of JP4 so special is not solely its diversity and vibrancy but also its intense, at times even irrepressible energy, always inspired by the timeless depth of American Jazz legends.

Besides numerous gigs all over Germany, the Jan Prax Quartett has been performing at international festivals such as the Lotos Jazzfestival in Poland or the Jazzáblanca Festival in Morocco.

They have just finished recording their first album and have scheduled the release with ACT for early 2015.
