This international sextet focuses on authentic performances of both classics and neglected gems from the discographies of pioneering bebop drummer Kenny Clarke (1914-1985) and bassist Oscar Pettiford (1922-1960), either as leaders or sidemen. The project covers the "golden age" of bebop in the 1940s through cool jazz to the emergence of hard bop in the mid-1950s. In addition to Clarke and Pettiford, other Giants of Bop featured in the band's repertoire include Charlie Christian, Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker, Bud Powell, Fats Navarro, Tadd Dameron, Wardell Gray, Miles Davis, John Lewis, Horace Silver, Cannonball Adderley and, for the band's "vocal edition", the singers Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Carmen McRae and Annie Ross....
