Debra Mann (jazz vocalist and pianist) returns to Linden Place with her trio to perform a concert of Brazilian jazz. For over two decades Debra has performed the music of legendary Brazilian composer, Antônio Carlos Jobim, considered one of the fathers of bossa nova, as well as one of the most important songwriters of the 20th century. He is perhaps best known as the composer of “Garota de Ipanema” (Girl from Ipanema); His collaboration with American jazz saxophonist Stan Getz created a bossa-nova craze in the United States, and subsequently internationally. His recordings and concerts with Frank Sinatra and other American musicians opened the door for many Brazilian composers and performers, including Sergio Mendes, Ivan Lins, Jorge Ben, Milton Nascimento, Djavan, Caetano Veloso, Joao Gilberto, and many more.
