Pianist Frank Wilkins leads a versatile all-star quartet featuring sax player, singer, and actor Stan Strickland who has opened for Jazz greats Miles Davis and Sonny Rollins, and Barenaked Ladies, and toured South Africa with The Village People. Special guest Avery Sharpe, who plays both electric and upright bass, performed with Wynton Marsalis and Pat Metheny before almost 20 years with McCoy Tyner’s trio. Drummer Stanley Swann’s tight and tasteful rhythms compliment Sharpe’s chord work supporting Strickland and bandleader Wilkins, who is equally comfortable in taking the lead or getting out of the way to let the others light up the stage....
