New York City-based Gordon Webster began playing piano in his native Ottawa at age four. While studying jazz at the University of Toronto, he developed an obsession with the lindy hop, a popular swing dance of the 40s. Both a dancer and a musician, he met his wife Katie, also a lindy hopper, at Swing Out New Hampshire, a lindy dance camp where Webster’s band still plays each summer. The couple moved to New York City where he received his masters degree from the Manhattan School of Music in 2006. Since then Webster has recorded six albums and has become one of the most sought after musicians in the lindy hop world drawing upon influences as diverse as Fats Waller, Count Basie, Oscar Peterson, and Gene Harris serving up a smorgasbord of styles unified by one characteristic: irresistible danceability....

Melbourne jazz vocalist Hetty Kate has fronted jazz bands across Australia and internationally for many years, and recently has been embraced by Australia’s lindy hop dance community as a swinging vocalist and bandleader with a wicked sense of humor and a big repertoire.
Born in England, Kate came to Australia when she was 11 years old and has lived in Melbourne, Australia (with many extended sojourns internationally) since then. Since beginning her musical career she has toured across Asia, South America, Europe and North America with her own groups and as a featured vocalist, and has released five independent albums.
Webster met Hetty Kate on the bandstand at Canberra, Australia’s Jumptown Jam in 2013 amidst a crowded dance hall full of twirling skirts and dapper gentlemen. The two hit it off and decided to collaborate on a musical project especially for swing jazz dancing that was successfully funded by dancers and swing jazz fans via the crowdfunding platform Pozible.
