Exactly 50 years ago, the landmark album "Getz/Gilberto," released by Stan Getz & Joao Gilberto on Verve Records, received 5 Grammy Awards in 1965. Now, Brazilian jazz songstress Ithamara Koorax releases "Ithamara Koorax Sings Getz/Gilberto," her version of that groundbreaking session, recreating the entire album - which introduced "The Girl From Ipanema" to the world - with brilliant new arrangements. The CD was recorded in New York, Los Angeles and Rio de Janeiro, produced by the LA-based arranger Arnaldo DeSouteiro, and featuring such musicians as Joao Palma (the famous drummer who was a member of Sergio Mendes & Brasil 66, as well as of Jobim's band from 1969 to 1977), English keyboardist Ursula Lauren, and the late guitarist Hugh McCracken...
