"Izaline Calister makes history at the BIMhuis" was the headline of Dutch national paper NRC in the year 2000, in response to the CD release of her debut album at the Bimhuis. Now, as the crowning moment of her career, she returns to that very stage exactly 25 years later, performing her most beautiful and newest songs, once again accompanied by outstanding musicians.
Over the past 25 years, Izaline Calister has developed into a versatile singer and songwriter who sings effortlessly in five languages. Her body of work connects linguistic regions through translations and unique versions of Dutch and Curaçaoan songs. She contributes to the visibility of Curaçaoan culture, the Papiamentu language, and to the cross-pollination and evolution of songcraft in both linguistic traditions. In recent years, she has written for and performed in a range of music theatre productions for both adults and children.
