Jaranon y Bochinche Dance and Music Performance Company is an Afro-Peruvian company that developed in 1995 out of the Tradicion Peruana Cultural Center. Their repertoire consists of a diversity of dances and music from the Afro-Peruvian culture.

Jaranon y Bochinche has performed at a multitude of venues including La Pena, Theater Artaud, Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts, Dance Mission, and San Francisco State University. The company has also participated in the SF Carnaval several times over the years, winning awards for artistic expression. The artistic philosophy of Jaranon y Bochinche has been developed by its unique Soto brother and sister team and their families’ Afro-Peruvian roots. Juan de Dios leads the percussion and male choreography, Lydia Soto leads both female and male choreography, and Rocio Soto leads vocals. Raised with dance and music in their home, the Sotos have continued their traditions in the United States, collaborating in creative ways to share their cultural knowledge with the San Francisco Bay Area....
